As a Senior Hardware Engineer at EKB, you design control panels for bespoke projects in industries such as machinery, food, and energy. You work with EPLAN, communicate directly with clients, and stay involved from the first concept through to the build and FAT in the workshop. The combination of building and maintaining client standards, working in demanding ATEX environments, and occasionally handling UL projects provides both technical challenge and variety. You’ll have the freedom to make independent decisions and safeguard the technical direction of your projects.
Your responsibilities:
• Designing complete control panels in EPLAN, including schematics, component selection, and wiring diagrams;
• Performing (safety)calculations (power, protection, heat, PL, SIL) and ensuring compliance with standards (CE, ATEX, UL where applicable);
• Aligning with clients on technical decisions and design boundaries; you are the technical point of contact;
• Preparing material lists and handing over to work preparation;
• Staying involved through production and FAT in the workshop; providing support during external connections when required;
• Collaborating with software engineers and project management to ensure smooth project execution.
You are an experienced Hardware Engineer who enjoys working independently on complex custom projects. You communicate easily with clients, project managers, and production, and take ownership of the technical outcome.
You also bring:
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent working and thinking level;
• At least 5 years of experience in hardware engineering or panel building;
• Strong knowledge of EPLAN; experience with ProPanel is a plus;
• The ability to independently handle complex designs and justify technical decisions;
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
You’ll join an informal and approachable team where everyone helps each other and where your impact on the final product is visible. You’ll work on diverse, non-standard projects where your craftsmanship truly shines.
You will also receive:
• A gross monthly salary up to €5,700 based on a 38-hour workweek;
• 25 vacation days;
• 13 additional ADV days;
• 8.33% holiday allowance;
• Pension scheme;
• Travel allowance of €0.23 per km;
• A diverse and visible role, staying involved through the entire build process.
